Dignity and Equality

Sister Jayanti is the NGO Representative of the Brahma Kumaris at the United Nations, Geneva.

In the awareness of one’s own spiritual identity, we recognize that originally the state of the human being is that of goodness. We also see others as spiritual beings with inherent goodness. The relationship with others is then of mutual respect – irrespective of external differences of race and religion.

When someone is seen with a vision of discrimination, be it gender or colour, their inner awareness of their own dignity enables them to maintain a state of stability that nothing can take away. Their response of dignity continues, whatever the outside stimulus may be.

When we share this understanding and awareness of the self as a spiritual being and make this the foundation of our society, we can definitely create a world of harmony, peace and equality.
